#37 | Squirrel Creek

The Squirrel Creek Watershed has an area of about 200 square miles. The creek begins in the sand hills south of Austin at elevation 1250 feet and flows north to Pine Creek about 3 miles north west of Katrime. The total drop is about 380 feet over about 26 miles (250 feet in the first 8 or 9 miles). The watershed includes four major dams, Jackson Lake Dam, Hidden Valley Dam, and two drop structures on Squirrel Creek.

Other significant waterways include Jensen Drain, Parynuik Drain, New Beaudin and Old Beaudin Drains.

This subdistrict includes portions of the municipalities of Westlake-Gladstone and North Norfolk and North Cypress – Langford.

The subdistrict’s annual maintenance budget is about $60,000.
